COVID-19 and Paralysis UPDATE

Now that our Governor has issued a statewide stay-at-home order, times are more uncertain than ever.

As we have mentioned previously, our main concern is always the health and safety of our clients. We are aware of how these times dramatically impact our clients physical and mental health. Regardless of anybody's level of function, exercise is one of the best ways to improve quality of life. For those individuals living with paralysis, exercise is of utmost importance to improve function, but also to prevent secondary complications, such as:

- heart disease

- diabetes

- pressure sores

- carpal tunnel syndrome

- hypertension

- UTI

- respiratory disease

NextStep Orlando provides  standardized activity-based exercises based on current scientific and clinical evidence. More importantly we provide a support crew and an environment that our clients thrive in. And right now, our clients are feeling the impact of these uncertain times.

2019 was an exciting year for us as we celebrated 10 years of providing activity-based therapies to individuals living with paralysis in Florida and beyond. As heartbreaking as it is, we must comply with the stay-at-home order and remain closed for now.

NextStep Orlando is not only a small business but is also a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that will now rely on the community more than ever. To ensure our organization will be able to continue to provide our clients with the ongoing recovery they so desperately need, we please ask for you to consider making a donation.

For the most up-to-date information about the coronavirus (COVID-19), we recommend that you reference the websites for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and state and local health authorities.

For specific information about symptoms you may be experiencing or questions about personal exposure as someone living with paralysis or as a caregiver, please contact your physician directly. Also, The Reeve Foundation has Information Specialists available to answer calls, emails, and continue to be a resource for the paralysis community.

STAY HOME. Stay active. Stay healthy. Stay Safe.
